Game Of Fame continues Qld Oaks campaign

A trip to Melbourne has turned Game Of Fame into a genuine Queensland Oaks candidate.

Game Of Fame, who will contest the Calibre Consulting Plate, is one of two horses trainer Jason McLachlan will have for the Slade Bloodstock syndicate at Doomben on Saturday.

The other is Meet George Jetson who makes his much-anticipated return in the Club 100 Handicap (1110m) after going shin sore after his only start in November.

McLachlan said Game Of Fame had thrived after a spring campaign in Melbourne and was a far tougher filly.

Game Of Fame resumed two weeks ago when third at huge odds at Doomben over 1350m.

It was her first run since she ran down the course in the VRC Oaks.

But McLachlan believes the Oaks run was no guide to Game Of Fame's talent and he prefers to look at her run in the Geelong Classic when assessing her ability.

"Game of Fame was probably at the end of her campaign in the Oaks but she didn't have a lot of luck," McLachlan said.

"She was asked to make a very long run and had no hope the way the race panned out.

"She is a much tougher filly now and the spring trip has been the making of her."

McLachlan is also excited about Meet George Jetson's return to racing.

Meet George Jetson started favourite at his only start on the strength of a seven-length Caloundra barrier trial win but finished fourth.

"He was very shin sore after the run and also hit interference on the home turn. It turned out to be a strong form race so his effort under the circumstances was really good," McLachlan said.
