Slipper an unlikely fit for Always Allison

Wednesday 11 March 2015, 5:45pm

Chris Waller won't rule out running Always Allison in the Golden Slipper but the premier trainer says the Sires' Produce Stakes is the most likely target.

The unbeaten juvenile, who is not nominated for the Slipper, will take her place in the Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Connections have until Monday to decide whether to pay a $150,000 late entry to back up in the $3.5 million race.

"The plan is to be going to the Sires' Produce and we've got the right to keep that option of the Slipper open, right up to when the late payment is due," Waller said.

"But I think she's better placed in a Sires' Produce."

Waller is concerned more seasoned two-year-olds such as Slipper favourite Vancouver, who raced in the spring, have an advantage over Always Allison who had her first start in February.

"They look pretty impressive the mature horses, my filly is still probably a prep away from fully maturing," Waller said.

"Vancouver, for example, has had the Breeders' Plate win and that (spring) preparation and they're just so much tougher than horses playing catch up."

The premier trainer will also run Vanbrugh in the Pago Pago Stakes after he scored on debut last month.

He is also a chance to head towards the Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick on April 4.
