Description

Finding a two-year-old winner is one of the hardest tasks in racing! To give yourself the best chance at two-year-old glory you need a well conformed, precocious horse that’s sire and dam have both been speed machines in their own youth!

This is exactly what you will get when you purchase into our incredibly flashy RUSSIAN REVOULTION – THE HUNTRESS colt to be trainer by one of Australia’s most in form trainer, John Thompson!

Snitzel's Fastest Son, Russian Revolution, created a great impression during his 11 start career, winning seven races including two of Australia's biggest tests of speed - The Gr.1 Galaxy and The Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate (a race also won by his sire).
The winner of over $1.2 million in stakes was also successful in three other Group races, Russian Revolution is a half-brother to the Gr.3 filly Turbo Miss from one of the world's great families - one which has been represented locally by the high-class stallions Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur.

Understandably popular with breeders - serving 609 mares during his first three years at stud, Russian Revolution is one of Snitzel's 111 stakes winners and 15 Gr.1 winners. By another superstar stallion in Redoute's Choice, Snitzel is already proving his worth as a sire of sires with Shamus Award, Sizzling, Spill The Beans, Time For War and Wandjina all already siring stakes winners.

This flashy colt from the debut crop of Russian Revolution is out the talented race mare The Huntress, winner of her first two starts - a two-year-old dash at Sandown and the Listed Redoute's Choice Stakes at Caulfield. Not having much luck in a handful of subsequent outings, she did however earn further black type with a Gr.3 third in the National Stakes at Morphettville.

Already the dam of two winners – Brisbane Metro winner, Bullet Speed and promising two time winner, Squanto - The Huntress is one of 17 stakes winners sired by the consistent Hussonet stallion Husson, Argentina's Champion 2Y0 Colt and Champion 3Y0 Miler; unbeaten from five starts.

Hussonet is proving to be an outstanding broodmare sire influence with 85 stakes winners inclusive of 24 Gr.1 winners and whilst it is still early days for Husson in this department, the initial signs are encouraging with 45 winners from his first 71 runners including the stakes winner Flower Of War.

The Huntress is one of six winners produced by the Flemington winning Western Symphony mare Western Empress, also dam of the stakes placed Lord Fuji and grandam of the city winner Metronome.

Western Empress is one of five winners for the fast stakes winning Marscay mare Martelomeo, also dam of the Gr.3 Blue Diamond Prelude winner Danaides and the Gr.3 placed Ansami. Martelomeo's daughters and granddaughters are doing very well at stud - producing the exciting Perth galloper Truly Great (a Gr.1 winner in December, last start Perth Cup second), the Gr.3 WA Oaks heroine Special Alert and the Listed winner Reigning Belle.

Martelomeo's dam Ring Me Soon also did a good job at stud, her five winners including the VRC Oaks placegetter Give Me A Buzz... and her descendants include the Group winners Regal Crown and Deroche and the Listed winners Al Dhafra and Cat In A Hat.

This is a family that has been producing high quality performers for generations, its ancestress Pearl Maiden an elite broodmare in that she was able to foal three Classic winners including the champion mare Pearl Cap. Her other descendants include the big race winners Pearlweed, Triscay, Demerger, La Baraka, Defier, Donald, Averof, Falkland, Lys River, Oncidium, Tourment, Catchascatchcan, Niniski, Alizee, Astern, Belmez, Fine Pearl, Lypharita, Cyane and Contributer.

Bred on the same Redoute's Choice/Hussonet cross as the Gr.1 winners King's Legacy, Extreme Choice and Majmu, this colt is line-bred to the great influences Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector and Nijinsky II whilst also boasting background duplications of the influential mares Santa Brigida, Mowerina, Plucky Liege, Myrtlewood, Black Ray, Helene de Troie, Sunshot, Frizette and Pretty Polly
