If you’ve been paying attention, you’d know that Reliable Man is the sire of the moment. He’s sired 2Gr1 3YO Oaks winners this season: the NZ Oaks with Sentimental Miss, and the VRC Oaks just a few weeks ago with Miami Bound.

He has also sired two stakes-placed performers: 3YO colt Battenberg, who was third in the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes, and 4YO gelding, Sully, placed in a JRA Cup and Herbert Power in the spring. His offspring are the ones everyone wants.

Now if we were buying his yearlings, we’d weight our decision heavily on the horse’s conformation, and take their pedigree into account. And we’d hope they develop into the 2-3YO horses we anticipate they’ll be.

But the reality is, when you buy a yearling, you don’t really know how they are going to perform. There is an element of the unknown, and this is what ultimately keeps the price down and allows us to purchase horses in that more affordable range.

The beauty of purchasing a 2YO, however, is that you can see exactly how they’ve matured, and exactly how they move. You not only get a matured horse that is infinitely closer to getting to the track, you get a lot more information about the type of horse you are buying. And this is because you get to watch their breeze up.

Breeze ups are worth their weight in gold because you can understand so much about the horse before you lay down a single cent. You use them to look at different things: you can look at how fast the horse travels (ie Krone was fast). Or you look at their running action: does it look effortless or laboured? (we loved Scottish Dancer’s easy running style). It really gives you a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of their physique and confirmation.

But of course, all these things come at a price. As soon as a horse begins to prove itself, and you can see what type of horse they’ll be on the track, they inherently become much more valuable. They're more expensive because they're at a totally different level.

This 2YO Reliable Man gelding was picked by our bloodstock agent, John Foote, at the New Zealand Ready to Run sales. He loved this horse's athleticism and constitution, along with his strong pedigree on both the sire and dam sides.

He looks to be a real athletic 1400m to 2000m and beyond type, and will be perfectly suited to the 3YO classics in the spring and autumn in 2020/21. Plus he’s a gelding, which means he’ll be focussed on the job.

He's by a Group 2 winning Royal Academy mare, Regal Kiss, who has had 6 foals to race for 5 winners. Her sixth foal, an El Roca filly called La Joya, ran third in NZ recently.

This guy is the perfect combination of great type and pedigree, giving him every chance of success on the racecourse.
If you think you’re ready to take the next step
If you don’t want to wait
If you’re ready for your horse to hit the track ASAP
You might just want to check out how easy and effortlessly this guy did his breeze up (see video above).

We loved him.

And have a listen for yourself at what the experts had to say about his sire in the video below (he’s the dark grey when racing turned ghostly grey in retirement - listen till the 4 min mark).

With 40% already sold to our early bird list or subscribers and share prices at $6,000 for 5% or $3,000 for 2.5% this guy wont last long.
