Featured Syndicator: Trainer Connections

Tuesday 11 November 2014, 11:51am

This week we speak with Craig Tognolini from Trainer Connections about his unique syndication business.

When selecting horses for syndication, what specifically do you look for?

We do not buy horses at the sales for syndication. Trainers come to us with horses they have selected and we help syndicate these horses. We strive to keep the cost of owning a racehorse as low as possible for our owners. Our direct debit system ensures trainers are paid on time and owners know exactly how much they are spending each month.

What is your favourite part of running a racing syndicate?

Seeing and hearing the joy of owners when their horse wins for the first time! Also watching a horse grow from when the horse is bought at a sale to stepping out on the track for the first time. The excitement a first time owner brings to a syndicate!

When selecting a trainer, which things do you take into consideration?

At Trainer Connections we are open to any trainer who would like their stable to use our system. We expect our trainers to have a high level of communication with their owners, via newsletters. Videos &  social media. We want our owners to see and hear what is going on with their horse.

What is your most memorable moment as a syndicator thus far?

Any time a horse that is under the Trainer Connection banner wins. Also seeing one of our trainers Michael Costa training his first city winner. Seeing all the hard work paying off and the joy it brought to his stable. Bjorn Baker winning the Magic Millions was also another great feat from one of our trainers.
