Green Moon ruled out of Melbourne Cup

The 2012 winner Green Moon has been ruled out of Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.

The Lloyd Williams-owned stayer has a cracked hoof and will not be an acceptor for the $6 million race.

The final field for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup will be finalised on Saturday afternoon.

Victorian stewards report English stayer Lord Van Percy has lost his chance to secure an automatic place in the Cup field with the Andrew Balding-trained stayer scratched from Saturday's Lexus Stakes because of lameness.

The Ciaron Maher-trained Marksmanship has also been scratched from the Lexus.
