Rosehill Guineas hopes for Quick Strike

Wednesday 29 October 2014, 4:20pm

Chris Waller rated Quick Strike as a potential Rosehill Guineas horse after the three-year-old made it back-to-back wins at Warwick Farm.

With the autumn in mind, Waller said he would spell Quick Strike immediately despite the horse's half-length win in the Shop With The TAB App Handicap (1600m) on Wednesday.

"I think he'd be competitive in races like the Rosehill Guineas in the autumn," Waller said.

"It's easy to get a long way ahead of yourself and we're entitled to as owners, trainers, punters, jockeys - we can all have a little dream."

In a small field that resulted in a leisurely run race, Quick Strike was behind the leader most of the way.

The $2.10 favourite was presented with an inside run at the 300m and sprinted well enough to hold off Makeadane ($15) and stablemate Idyllic Scenery ($7).

"He was put into a nice position," Waller said.

"When the gap presents (he) puts himself in it and away he goes."

The John O'Shea-trained Snow White also secured her second win in a row in the Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1200m).

The filly made an important leap from provincial grade to post her first city victory, scoring by three-quarters of a length over Mandalong Kiss ($41) and favourite Peeping ($1.40).

Former champion jockey and Godolphin assistant trainer Darren Beadman said Snow White ($18) had jumped out of her skin since her victory at Wyong earlier this month.

"She's changed her whole demeanour at home and she's going to be a better filly in six months time," Beadman said.

But the three-year-old has a long way to go to rival the triumphs of her older brother Pierro.

Pierro won five Group One races during his career including the 2012 Golden Slipper and now stands at Coolmore Stud.
