Frequendly streets rivals at Doomben

Saturday 25 October 2014, 2:49pm

Trainer Les Ross has had hundreds of winners but very few have scored as easily as his star two-year-old Frequendly at Doomben on Saturday.

Frequendly was always going to start at short odds in the Driver Recruitment Handicap (1050m).

However, the race was turned into a farce when two late scratchings joined the original three withdrawals to leave a field of just four runners. Frequendly ($1.20) made it two wins from two starts when she waltzed home by 8 3/4 lengths to Faint Blaze ($7).

The filly, who is a sister to smart galloper Friendly Dragon, will now be set for the $2 million Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic (1200m) on January 10.

"She will have a month in the paddock and then come back for an 1100m race here in December and then on to the Magic Millions," Ross said.

Friends joked with Ross that it was the easiest $56,000 he had earned.

"Actually it is $56,100 so don't forget the $100 it is too hard to come by," Ross replied.

Frequendly continued the recent good run of jockey Brad Stewart and it was his ninth winner for October.

"I haven't really had to test Frequendly yet and put the acid to her. She still has a bit more to give," he said.

Only minutes earlier Ross produced another smart two-year-old who won a Gold Coast race by a big space.

Meanwhile, trainer Liam Birchley had a change of luck when his stayer Paraggi ($4.50) won the Kartaway Mini Skip Hcp (2200m).

Birchley had earlier saddled up Hot Snippity in the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley behind boom horse Fontiton.
