Cox Plate favourite Fawkner draws gate 4

Tuesday 21 October 2014, 9:34am

Cox Plate favourite Fawkner has drawn barrier four as he attempts to give leviathan owner Lloyd Williams his first win in the weight-for-age championship.

A capacity field of 14 will run in Saturday's race at Moonee Valley over 2040 metres with Mourinho and Chivalry missing out after 16 acceptances were taken.

Last year's runner-up Happy Trails has barrier two while Tasmanian cult hero The Cleaner has the outside draw.

Irish visitor Adelaide has barrier 13 while New Zealand mare Silent Achiever has drawn awkwardly in 11.

There are three three-year-olds in the race - the Gai Waterhouse-trained Almalad and Wandjina and Godolphin's Sweynesse.

Group One placed Sweynesse and Wandjina gained the last two spots in the field.
