Group One-winning trainer Eden Petrie will adopt a conservative approach for his second coming in racing despite the win of his galloper Mishani Stealth at Doomben on Saturday.

Petrie was considered one of Queensland's most promising young trainers when his horse Albert The Fat won the Group One BTC Cup in 2010.

"However, things didn't exactly flow on from Albert's win and I accepted a post as stable foreman for NSW trainer Paul Messara's Queensland stables."

"When that eventually finished about two years ago I had a break from the sport," Petrie said.

He is now back training a small team for owner Mick Crooks at Beaudesert south of Brisbane.

Petrie said he had no intention of increasing his team numbers at this stage.

"I think in this day and age you are either a big team trainer or a small team trainer," Petrie said.

Mishani Stealth ($4.40) was given the run of the race by jockey Brad Stewart to score an easy win in the Bank of Queensland Wynnum Hcp (1200m).

"Brad is one of the best jockeys in Australia. It was the perfect ride along the fence taking advantage of his good barrier."

"There is a benchmark race in a fortnight which should suit Mishani Stealth and we will then see where we go with him."

Meanwhile, much travelled galloper Bush Aviator scored his first open company win in the Nairn Constructions Hcp (1350m).

Bush Aviator was originally trained by Danny O'Brien in Melbourne and won his first race start in a feature race in Tasmania.

After losing form he was sent to trainer Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm and has now won three races for him.

Apprentice Luke Tarrant was able to set a slow early pace and then sprinted Bush Aviator home in a fast 33.72.

"They let him lead without much pressure and that's the way he likes to race. He was always going to be hard to beat with the early slow pace," said stable foreman John Fleming.
