Trainer Kelly Schweida has stuck with claiming apprentice Cassandra Schmidt in a bid to offset wide barrier draws for Discreet and Miss Cover Girl at Doomben on Saturday.

Schweida has been using Schmidt in the metropolitan area and has a high opinion of her ability.

"She has ridden about 180 winners all-up but still has a three kilogram claim in town," Schweida said.

"She didn't have much luck on one of my horses, Bingo Rose, last Saturday so lets hope things go better this week."

Discreet has drawn gate eight of nine in the Bartons Bayside Handicap and Miss Cover Girl has barrier 11 of 14 in the Entire Recruitment Handicap.

Schweida has also accepted with Arteta at Doomben but the two-year-old is an uncertain starter after he drew the outside in the field of 12 plus two emergencies.

The beautifully bred colt is by champion sire Lonhro out of a half sister to 2005 Silver Slipper winner Domesday and was a $250,000 buy at the Magic Millions sale.

"The two girls will have to go around but I will have a talk to connections on Thursday about Arteta," Schweida said.

"When was the last time a horse won from 14 of 14 at the 1000-metre start at Doomben? Someone said it was Ascot Bridge in 1968."

"He is a lovely horse but he has had just a jump-out so maybe we will wait."

Discreet, who will be having her first start since she won an open handicap at Doomben in July, will carry 56kg after Schmidt's claim and needs a genuine tempo to produce her best.

Miss Cover Girl, a finalist for last season's Queensland's Two-Year-Old of the Year award after winning her first four starts, is also resuming but her draw presents a challenge.

"She will carry the minimum of only 54 kilograms with Cassie's claim and she can come from back in the field. But that barrier is always tricky," Schweida said.

Schweida said Miss Cover Girl was a chance to go to Melbourne to chase black-type races.

Meanwhile, Schweida's smart miler Epic has been spelled after he was unplaced in the Shannon Stakes at Rosehill two weeks ago.
