Rogali covers costs for unxpected expenses

Wednesday 1 October 2014, 3:08pm

Trainer Dan Bougoure had an extra reason to be happy Rogali won at Ipswich on Wednesday.

It meant he could cover the cost of the shirt the horse ruined while being saddled for the race.

Rogali, who was unlucky at its previous start at the Gold Coast, scored an easy win in the Manhire & Associates Handicap (1666m).

"He is a lovely quiet horse but you have to watch them all," Bougoure said.

"At least with the winner's cheque percentage I can buy a new one (shirt) now," Bougoure said.

Bougoure is gradually building his team with Oakleigh Girl on the verge of a racing comeback.

Oakleigh Girl will be prepared for the Magic Millions carnival in January and then the Melbourne autumn.

Meanwhile, trainer Robert Heathcote said there could be a city Saturday win in five-year-old In Bangkok after he broke his maiden status at Ipswich on Wednesday.

In Bangkok ($2.10) came from the outside barrier but after working hard early scored an impressive win in the Ipswich Grammar School Handicap (1200m).

Heathcote said In Bangkok was another example of the benefits of gelding horses.

"It was only his ninth start today and he has got better after gelding," he said.

"He has been placed a few times at Eagle Farm earlier this year and it was a drop back in class today."

Apprentice Travis Wolfgram continued his good recent run with the winning ride on In Bangkok.

Wolfgram has been riding work on the Gold Coast and Brisbane and is being rewarded by Eagle Farm trainers such as Heathcote and Tony Gollan.
