Scissor Kick to run in Stan Fox Stakes

Monday 22 September 2014, 3:10pm

Golden Rose runner-up Scissor Kick will remain in Sydney for the Stan Fox Stakes despite also being nominated for a Melbourne race this weekend.

Scissor Kick is among the entries for Friday night's Group Two Bill Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley but trainer Paul Messara plans to start the talented colt at Rosehill a day later.

"Scissor Kick (is) definitely staying in Sydney for the Stan Fox. Just nominated in Melbourne as a safety net," Messara posted on Twitter on Monday.

The Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) nominations have been extended until Tuesday after eight three-year-olds were entered.

Scissor Kick has shown his class this campaign, winning three races including The Rosebud and Up And Coming Stakes before his gallant second to Hallowed Crown in the Group One Golden Rose.

The Golden Rose third placegetter Shooting To Win has also been entered for the Stan Fox, as has Group One placegetter Scratch Me Lucky and Group winners Bachman and Valentia.

Scissor Kick is at $10 in Caulfield Guineas betting with the Mark Kavanagh-trained Chivalry favourite at $4.20.
