Thinking Of You impresses in Caulfield win

Saturday 20 September 2014, 3:03pm

Thinking Of You has been promoted to favouritism for the Thousand Guineas after a dominant win at Caulfield at her city debut.

The Peter Moody-trained filly backed up a Wodonga maiden win with a convincing performance in Saturday's TMB Printing Handicap over 1400m to stamp herself as a filly on the rise.

Moody said Thinking Of You had always shown ability but was still immature and had a winter coat, so he is not sure how far into the spring she will progress.

"I'd like to suggest that we could go on to more races in the spring, but we'll just let her guide us," Moody said.

"I think it's more about the autumn with her.

"She could be in the paddock on Monday or she could be back here in three weeks in the Thousand Guineas. We'll just keep an open mind."

Thinking Of You ($6.50) tracked into the race nicely with cover before peeling off the back of eventual runner-up Pickin' Time ($6) in the straight.

The daughter of Thorn Park sprinted clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths with Pittsburgh Flyer ($11) another neck away third.

Thinking Of You is $5 equal favourite for the Thousand Guineas alongside Saturday's Tea Rose Stakes winner First Seal.

Jockey Luke Nolen believes Thinking Of You is only going to keep getting better.

"Ever since she came into work we've earmarked her as a quality filly for the autumn. This is all a bonus," he said.

"You can't help but be impressed by what she is doing."
