Final Crescendo to make a noise at Doomben

Friday 19 September 2014, 11:50am

Queensland sprinter Final Crescendo gets a second chance to earn a trip to Melbourne with trainer David Kelly dismissing his recent Doomben failure.

Final Crescendo returns to Doomben on Saturday for the Powerade Open Hcp (1200m) ahead of a planned tilt at the Group Two Gilgai Stakes at Flemington on October 4.

"We were planning to take him to Melbourne last week but after his first-up run we put those plans on hold," Kelly said.

Final Crescendo ran 11th behind Adebisi over 1110 metres last Saturday week but Kelly had no doubt about the reason for the seemingly poor effort.

"He drew wide and from that start it is usually a disaster," he said.

"That is what happened I wouldn't be taking too much notice of it."

Kelly is expecting a much better run on Saturday with Final Crescendo to start from gate three.

Topweight Adebisi is a scratching with trainer Desley Forster deciding to send him for a break.

Final Crescendo has raced in stakes company just once when second to Dances on Stars in the Prime Minister's Cup at the Gold Coast in early May.

Kelly sent him for a spell after that run to prepare him for the spring.

Michael Cahill, who has ridden Final Crescendo once for a win at Doomben in April, i is back aboard on Saturday.
