Sea The Moon retired with injury

Wednesday 17 September 2014, 8:58am

Star German colt Sea The Moon has been retired due to an injury suffered during his only defeat at Baden Baden.

His 11-length win in the German Derby propelled him to the top of markets for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

He was ruled out of the Arc when he was found to be injured after his second in the Grosser Preis Von Baden earlier this month and subsequently taken to the equine hospital at Newmarket.

Owners' representative Niko Lafrentz confirmed Sea The Moon would not race again and would be retired to stud.

Sea The Moon is the best performed progeny so far produced by champion Sea The Stars, the winner of six Group One races including the 2009 Arc.
