Dais puts Soldi Domani on Group One path

Saturday 30 August 2014, 1:23pm

Trainer Bryan Dais has the experience to back his opinion about three-year-old Soldi Domani being a black-type winner.

Soldi Domani ($9) took the first step towards the Group One Caulfield Guineas when he held on to win the Courier Mail Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Dais has an extensive background in handling top-class gallopers and worked for many years with the O'Sullivan family in New Zealand.

"I have felt for a while that Soldi Domani has the potential to be a Group winner," Dais said.

Soldi Domani cost $52,500 at the Magic Millions Ready To Run Sale last year but has taken time to mature.

At his first start he was second to the smart filly Pienkna who is also a chance of heading to Melbourne.

"We put blinkers on him today and they have helped," Dais said.

Winning jockey Brad Stewart said he enjoyed a perfect from an inside alley.

Meanwhile, Cessnock galloper Uno Five ($9) continued to thrive in the Queensland sunshine when he won the The Jetty Spring On Green Handicap (2100m).

Uno Five is trained by Jeremy Sylvester but spends most of his time being minded by trainer Jeff McCarter on the Gold Coast.
