Glen Boss buoyant about Chivalry's return

Champion jockey Glen Boss is excited about the spring prospects of promising colt Chivalry who makes his return in Saturday's McNeil Stakes at Caulfield.

Boss has never ridden the Mark Kavanagh-trained horse in a race but he has partnered him in two recent jump outs at Flemington.

He believes Chivalry can be a force in the major three-year-old races, especially once he gets to 1600m and further.

"He's more like a Guineas-type of horse. He's going to get a mile and probably beyond," Boss said.

"He's done nothing at this stage to say that he's not a really good horse to me, with everything he's done with me.

"Every piece of work and every trial has been really spot on."

Chivalry was an impressive Moonee Valley winner at his second start in December before returning from a let-up to finish an eye-catching third in the Blue Diamond Prelude.

He has not raced since his midfield finish in the Blue Diamond Stakes won by filly Earthquake.

While Boss expects Chivalry to relish longer than the 1200m of Saturday's race, he still expects Chivalry to sprint well fresh in the Group Three contest.

"If you have a look at him on Saturday he's a magnificent colt," Boss said.

"He just oozes quality. So I would imagine he will come out and run really well."

The McNeil has attracted a field of 13 three-year-olds including Group Two winner Zululand, Group One-placed colts Jabali and Cornrow and Group-placegetter Awesome Rock who is resuming.

Novel Dancer is the only filly in the field.
