Melbourne Cup favourite The Offer has had a pleasing hit-out in a barrier trial at Randwick.

Three barrier trials for Group and Listed horses were held on the Kensington track before racing on Saturday after heavy rain forced the majority of the heats on to the Warwick Farm Pro-Ride track on Friday.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse said there were several options for The Offer's first run of the campaign including next Saturday's Group One Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield or the Dato Tan Chin Nam (1600m) at Moonee Valley a week later.

Expensive import Michelangelo led the field in the 1250-metre trial but compounded in the straight to beat just one other runner.

The two other trials were over 840m with the Waterhouse-trained Longma and ATC Sires' Produce winner Peggy Jean clearing out by many lengths.

Longma won the heat by three-quarters of a length from Peggy Jean with Winx heading the rest another four lengths away.

Peggy Jean is due to make her comeback in the Group Two Furious Stakes (1200m) in two weeks.

The third trial was won by the Gary Portelli-trained I'm All The Talk with the Concorde Stakes in two weeks among his options.
