Slade Power to miss Haydock Sprint

Friday 22 August 2014, 9:13am

Slade Power is likely to head to Australia without another run with trainer Eddie Lynam all but ruling out the Sprint Cup at Haydock.

Lynam said the Diamond Jubilee winner and his stablemate Sole Power both contracted ringworm after the July Cup meeting at Newmarket.

Slade Power will run in the VRC Sprint at Flemington in November, his final start before he heads to Darley Stud.

"Both of the horses, when they came back from the July Cup got very bad ringworm," Lynam told Channel 4 Racing.

"Slade Power got it worse than Sole Power. Both of them are fine again, but it can be hard on their immune system when they get something like that.

"I'd say Haydock is unlikely."
