Schofield has another full book

Monday 26 November 2012, 4:07pm

The decision by talented apprentice Chad Schofield to remain in Victoria has been rewarded by another full book of rides at Wednesday's Sandown race meeting.

The South African-born teenager who started his riding career in Sydney almost two years ago has been in demand, even through the spring carnival when his claim couldn't be used.

Schofield had eight rides at Saturday's Moonee Valley meeting and scored his 18th win of the season on the Mick Price-trained Isabella Snowflake.

Four of his seven rides at Sandown are for his master David Hayes who provides his best winning prospect on Rock Robster in the Ascend Sales Handicap (2400m).

He is also on Shotover River for Hayes in the TVN Plate (1600m), Spirited Addition in the Catanach's Jewellers Handicap (1200m) and last start winner Speckie in the Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1600m).

Schofield is set to cash in on the resurgence of the Hayes team from the trainers' new base at Euroa in central Victoria.

"My time at Euroa has definitely improved my knowledge as a jockey," Schofield said.

"I'm now riding far superior horses and riding in bigger races on different tracks against different jockeys."

"The stable is really starting to fire and there are a lot of nice young horses that should be ready to win soon."
