Stewards question Hellyer over ride

Wednesday 30 July 2014, 5:28pm

Racing Queensland stewards have opened an inquiry into jockey Michael Hellyer's ride on Beau Boy at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.

Beau Boy ran ninth in the Bundaberg Distilling Co Hcp (2200m) beaten 16 lengths by race winner Heater.

Chairman of stewards Daniel Aurisch said they had queries about Hellyer's ride between the 1600m and 600m when Beau Boy raced near the lead with Adenarius.

After taking evidence from Hellyer and trainer Matt Kropp stewards adjourned the inquiry until a date to be fixed.

"We want to review Beau Boy's previous starts and also to check the sectional times," Aurisch said.
