Greg Ryan fails to reel in Brad Rawiller

Monday 28 July 2014, 6:02pm

Brad Rawiller has wrapped up the national jockeys' premiership with 156-1/2 wins, two ahead of Greg Ryan.

Victorian Rawiller came with a late surge to overhaul country NSW jockey Ryan earlier this month.

Rawiller had his final ride for the season on Sunday as he and his wife Carolyn prepare for the birth of their second child on Tuesday.

Ryan ended his season at Warren on Monday and rode one winner and two seconds on the eve of his appearance before the Racing NSW Appeal Panel over a six week ban for his handling of a horse at Dubbo.

He was outed after a hearing into his ride on Grey Pariz on June 20 and had been riding on a stay of proceedings pending the appeal of his suspension for not taking all permissible measures to give the horse the best chance in the race.

Dean Yendall, who is on 146, had one winner at Swan Hill on Monday but has no rides at Geelong on Tuesday and just two on Wednesday.

The final Victorian meeting is an eight-race program at Sale on Thursday.

Meanwhile James McDonald has four rides booked at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in his attempt to be the outright winner of the Sydney premiership.

Mcdonald drew level with Nash Rawiller on Saturday with the latter on a short-term contract in Japan.
