Popular 'chaser See More Business dies

Friday 25 July 2014, 5:36pm

Champion British jumps trainer Paul Nicholls has described See More Business as the horse of a lifetime following the death of the 1999 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.

See More Business spent his final days on co-owner Paul Barber's property.

"He was the horse of a lifetime. He was what jumps racing was all about and for me it's been a privilege and an honour to be involved with him," Nicholls told the Racing Post.

"He'd had a few problems but Emma Barber, Paul's daughter-in-law, has been looking after him really well.

"Emma found him in a field curled up. He hasn't suffered and old age has caught up with him but he died peacefully."

Nicholls said the horse would be buried at the top of the hill overlooking the gallops at his Ditcheat stable.

As well as his Gold Cup success, See More Business won the 1999 King George chase by an emphatic 17 lengths, with his other top level success coming in the same race in 1997.
