El Nino progeny breaking Track Records in town

Wednesday 16 July 2014, 11:14am

Back from a lengthy spell after an arduous 3 year old racing campaign aimed at the Gr1 Kentucky Derby,  Black Type son, Senor Rain  broke a 1400m Track Record in Californian yesterday, running 1:22.42, in super-fast sectionals, taking his wins to a total of 7 wins from 1100m-1400m.

His race record boasts 29 starts, finishing in the top three 20 times.  Four placings were at STAKES level,  and defeats at Group level in the Gr1 Santa Anita Derby (1800m) and Gr3 El Camino Real Derby (1800m), indicated he was never going to run the Derby distance.

Of his 7 wins, he won twice at 2 years and STAKES placed 4 times at 2 and 3 years, racing at the elite levels against several eventual Kentucky Derby contenders.

Last week, My Tee Time set a new Track Record for 1100m (1:03.45) by 11 lengths, leading all the way in an Allowance (Metropolitan race) at Suffolk Downs. The record breaking win came off a previous start win by 8 ¾ lengths over the same distance. She has a race record of 6 starts this year for 3 wins and 3 places.

Also with recent back to back wins, (1000m-1200m) Doppler Radar is another model of consistency for his sire, with a race record of 27 starts: 7-4-2.

El Nino has sired multiple metropolitan class winners, and at elite level both sexes are highly competitive. At 2,  Perdida la Mente won at Hoosier Park in Metropolitan company, and Heart to Me (3 wins, 1000m – 1600m) broke her Maiden at Churchill Downs.

Sadly, euthanized after a race fall, Indy El Nino won 8 of her 15 races, including a 19 ¾ length win at Fairmont Park.

Winner of 8 races, including 4 STAKES wins, DE JORGE  is her sires first STAKES winner.

Who will race his first Aussie STAKES winner?
