Dalakhani Filly Romps Home in Group One

Monday 14 July 2014, 2:44pm

Last month Integral became the fastest Royal Ascot miler in history when she raced away to win the Group Two Duke of Edinburgh Stakes. Last night the 4YO Dalakhani filly became Group One winner number seven for her sire as she ran her rivals ragged over a mile in the Group One Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket’s July meeting.

Jockey Ryan Moore allowed his rivals to feel each other out before making a decisive run entering the final furlong winning by a commanding two lengths on the 15-8 favourite. With all seven of the runners having competed at Royal Ascot, the race brought together older horses against the Classic generation. Integral clearly confirmed herself the best of her generation while the classic crop failed to get to her either.

Integral is also the second Group One winner sired by Dalakhani that is out of a Danehill mare. Given that he has only had 20 lifetime runners out of Danehill mares this is a phenomenal statistic. It is in fact one of the major reasons that his owner His Highness the Aga Khan sent him to Australia, to serve the many daughters and granddaughters of Danehill.

Four-time Group One winner and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero Dalakhani served a full book of mares in 2013 at Cornerstone Stud in South Australia. He will return this spring to stand his second season at a fee of $22,000 inc. GST.

Dalakhani’s book is filling up nicely and will include mares such as the dam of 2014 G1 South Australian Derby winner Kushadasi. To discuss a visit to Dalakhani in the Barossa Valley for your mare call Ross Hatton 0487 173 989 or Sam Hayes 0438 767 227. Alternatively email ross@cornerstonestud.com.au with any questions about a potential mating to Dalakhani.
