Lightweight out to upset bigger fillies

Friday 4 July 2014, 12:46pm

Diminutive filly Just Too Hard has given away size and strength throughout her short career and her latest assignment will be no exception.

Trainer Enver Jusufovic says the pony-sized Just Too Hard has the talent to win Saturday's Cove Hotel Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield but needs things to go her way.

"It's an ask but she's got good ability," Jusufovic said.

Just Too Hard will concede as much as 100kg to her larger opposition in the $80,000 contest but the speedy type showed last time in she had the tenacity to match classy opposition.

Just Too Hard finished a length behind subsequent Group Three winner Srikandi at level weights at Moonee Valley in February.

Srikandi went on to finish third in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap in Brisbane while Just Too Hard spent time in the spelling paddock to strengthen before her winter campaign.

"She's only a midget and weighs just under 400kg," Jusufovic said.

"While she's small, she's a nice filly and has a lot of speed."

Barrier two will aid Just Too Hard's chances while the trainer has engaged Glen Boss to ride the Hard Spun filly, an $11 chance in the TAB's early market.

Jusufovic scored his first city win of the season when the promising O'Malley claimed a competitive three-year-old contest at Sandown on Wednesday.

The Cranbourne-based trainer has also accepted with Just Too Hard's half-brother Momentary in the Sheen Group Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield.

Momentary is the fourth emergency for the race and has also been entered for a benchmark race at Bendigo next week.
