The David Hayes team has an eye on rich bonuses with two of its three-horse assault on Saturday's Murray Cox Handicap at Flemington.

The opening race of the Flemington meeting carries $50,000 in VOBIS Gold and Super VOBIS bonuses, which is a catalyst for the big field of 16 runners.

Racing Victoria announced the VOBIS Gold and Super VOBIS schemes would offer more than $19 million in added stakes next season.

La Cicciolina and Marocan Diva are eligible for the windfalls if they win the Murray Cox Handicap.

The fillies finished third and fourth respectively in the VOBIS Gold Betfair Classic over 1300m at Swan Hill but Hayes's racing manager Tom Dabernig says the extra ground of the Flemington contest will suit the pair.

"The 1400m will be ideal for them," Dabernig said.

"They both ran well at Swan Hill and Saturday's race will suit them so we expect similar efforts at Flemington."

While La Cicciolina and Marocan Diva pleased the stable with their Swan Hill efforts, bookmakers have the pair as outsiders in the early market at $31 and $51 respectively.

The Robert Smerdon-trained Crafty is the $4.50 favourite ahead of Profit Share from the Darren Weir stable who is the $5.50 second pick while Hayes's other runner O'Fennessy is a $23 chance to post a debut win.

A poor barrier prompted the stable to scratch O'Fennessy from a race at Moonee Valley last Saturday, leaving the colt to debut on Saturday.

O'Fennessy was midfield in a Wangaratta trial at his only public appearance but has the services of Steven King, who rode a double at the last Flemington meeting.

The two-year-olds will be Lindsay Park's only runners at Flenington on Saturday as the stable concentrates on building up its spring team.

"We are at the time of the year where we are down on numbers in the older horses," Dabernig said.

"Most of our better horses are in work getting ready for the spring."
