Dunn welcomes son to city riding ranks

Caulfield Cup-winning jockey Dwayne Dunn has welcomed his apprentice son Dylan to the city riding ranks.

South Australian stewards approved Dylan Dunn's application to ride in town earlier this week after the youngster began his career on the South Australian provincial circuit.

Dunn snr said the 18-year-old apprentice would take time to find his feet in the city but would make the grade.

His son has ridden in 149 races on out-of-town tracks for 16 wins and has two rides at Saturday's Morphettville Parks meeting.

He will ride Defiant Angel for Adelaide trainers' premiership leader Phillip Stokes in the Marlene Forgan Handicap (1550m).

Dwayne Dunn says he has helped Dylan with his style but the apprentice's technique has developed in a different way to his own.

"He's got a bit softer style, probably more towards Steven Arnold as opposed to me," he said.

"Even though you try to help them a bit, they develop their own style and make their own mark.

"My style in five years time could be well and truly out."
