Second track idea floated for Flemington

Friday 13 June 2014, 12:08pm

Racing Victoria and the Victoria Racing Club have started to investigate the merits of an inner track at Flemington.

Racing Victoria chief executive Bernard Saundry confirmed the organisations were looking at installing a race standard track on the inside of the course proper at Flemington.

The VRC's acting chief executive Julian Sullivan told News Limited the report would be completed in mid-August before the VRC and RV considered the plan.

Saundry said the idea had not gone past the feasibility study stage.

"Flemington is a wonderful asset for the industry and the VRC does a terrific job promoting racing," Saundry said.

"The question is can we expand Flemington's footprint? The feasibility study will help determine that."
