A crucial barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Friday will determine whether Steps In Time gets the chance to double her tally of Group One wins.

Trainer Joe Pride is keen to take the mare to Queensland for the Tatt's Tiara on Saturday week but insists she won't make the trip unless he is wowed by her performance in Friday's 800m heat.

"She will have to be very good tomorrow to go," Pride said.

"I want to see her trial like I know she can and like she trialled before she ran in the Coolmore and before she had her first-up run."

Jim Cassidy, who partnered the mare to her breakthrough Group One win in the Coolmore Classic, will be aboard for the trial and has also been booked to ride her in the Tatt's Tiara.

Pride said Steps In Time had done well since her failure on a heavy surface in the TJ Smith Stakes when she finished down the track behind Lankan Rupee.

The final Group One race of the season, the Tatt's Tiara would likely be Steps In Time's racetrack swansong before her retirement to stud in the spring.

Trainer Les Bridge is also believed to be considering a Tatt's Tiara start for Avoid Lightning but will only send the in-form mare north if the Eagle Farm track is wet.
