Dual Group One winner Akeed Mofeed will travel to Australia to begin his stud career sooner than expected after injury forced his retirement.

Akeed Mofeed won last year's Hong Kong Derby and Hong Kong Cup but injured a tendon while in training for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup.

Trainer Richard Gibson planned an international campaign with Akeed Mofeed but the stallion will now head to owner Pan Sutong's Goldin Farms property in South Australia.

Pan Sutong bought the property, formerly known as Lindsay Park, from trainer David Hayes late in 2013.

Sutong always intended Akeed Mofeed to be Goldin Farms' foundation stallion, buying the five-year-old from clients of original trainer John Oxx.

A son of Dubawi, Akeed Mofeed won six of his 17 starts but finished fifth in the Dubai World Cup in what turned out to be his final outing in March.

Goldin Farms has bought more than 40 mares to send to Akeed Mofeed in the upcoming breeding season.
