Lindop back riding trackwork in Adelaide

She has no timeline for a return to racing but jockey Clare Lindop was just happy to be back riding at trackwork on Thursday.

Lindop suffered 15 broken ribs and fractured her collarbone in a fall on Adelaide Cup day in March, which left her unable to leave her home for a month.

A steady regimen of rehabilitation brought Lindop to the stage where she could ride two horses for training partners Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas at Morphettville.

"I came back on light duties, if there is such a thing in racing," Lindop said.

"It's the longest I haven't ridden a horse since I was 10-years-old."

Lindop took the chance to do things that her racing commitments had previously prevented her doing, including a foray into the media and travelling to Brisbane for the State of Origin game between Queensland and New South Wales.

But the jockey was thrilled to be back among thoroughbreds after a frustrating period on the sidelines watching Macdonald and Gluyas's team win races such as the Group One Champagne Stakes with Go Indy Go.

"You take it for granted so much but the sheer joy of riding a horse is the reason I got into it when I was eight or nine," Lindop said.

"I just love animals and love horses and I really did miss them so it's been nice to have that passion resurface I guess."

Lindop's comeback date is uncertain but the dual Derby-winning rider said building strength in her shoulders with gym work and physiotherapy would occupy most of her time.

"It's actually a full-time job when you are in rehab," she said.
