Cahill adds to Beaudesert strike rate

Friday 25 April 2014, 5:00pm

Michael Cahill has continued his impressive strike rate at Beaudesert, winning his sixth race from seven rides at the Queensland provincial track this season.

Cahill steered I'm Chillin' to victory in the Barrier Reef Two Year Old (1050m) for a group of Queensland's most prominent women in racing.

The filly is owned by Kath Forbes, Judy Wanless, Letitia Langbecker, Pauline Thomas, Mary Collier and Audrey Pearson.

She was bought with the Magic Millions Classic female owners bonus in mind but failed to get to the race in January.

Forbes and her husband Doug have owned many winners over the past two decades while Wanless and her husband Ron have raced top horses including Victoria Derby winner Amalfi.

Langbecker helps run Queensland's leading spelling facility Washpool Lodge while Collier was the first woman to head an Australian metropolitan race club when she took over the chair of the now defunct Brisbane Turf Club.

"We decided to buy two horses at the Magic Millions sales and for the girls to race them so we could chase the Magic Millions Classic bonus for horses owned entirely by women," Collier said.

"The other horse has knee chips and I'm Chillin' wasn't ready for Millions but she shows promise."

Several thousand people were at Beaudesert which was the feature meeting in Queensland on Anzac Day.
