Miracles Of Life out of Group One Classic

Friday 25 April 2014, 1:16pm

A bout of colic may prolong the racing career of Blue Diamond Stakes winner Miracles Of Life.

Miracles Of Life was set to leave trainer Daniel Clarken's stable after Saturday's Group One Sportingbet Classic at Morphettville to be auctioned at a Gold Coast broodmare sale.

However, colic has forced the scratching of Miracles Of Life from the race and a re-think of plans for the filly.

Clarken said vets treated Miracles Of Life with a painkiller, which meant the trainer had to scratch the horse to comply with racing rules.

"The treatment sorted the colic out pretty quickly but the drug will take seven days to clear her system," Clarken said.

"She's comfortable now but can't race on Saturday."

Clarken said he would consult Miracles Of Life's owners Teeley Assets before deciding whether the three-year-old would race again.

The trainer said options included Saturday week's Group Two Euclase Stakes or Adelaide's feature sprint, the Group One Goodwood, a week later.

"I'd like to run her next week if the owners will let that happen but we'll have a chat during the week," Clarken said.

Miracles Of Life was unbeaten as a two-year-old culminating in the 2013 Blue Diamond but has not won a race at three.

She has shown glimpses of her previous form with two second placings at her past two starts.
