Not Listenin'tome impressive at Caulfield

Saturday 22 February 2014, 3:27pm

A lucrative autumn is ahead of Not Listenin'tome after the three-year-old confirmed rising star status at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Group One placegetter was in a class of his own in the Zeditave Stakes (1200m), powering to a four-length win to move to second favourite behind Zoustar for the Group One TJ Smith Stakes during the Sydney autumn carnival.

Jockey James McDonald and co-trainer Wayne Hawkes were glowing in their praise of the gelding who is owned by prominent Hong Kong trainer John Moore.

"He's just one out of the box," McDonald said.

"He was fresh-up off one trial and that was awesome. It was like a track gallop."

Not Listenin'tome started $1.60 favourite and after settling in the box seat, McDonald got on the back of Thermal Current before racing away to defeat Consorting ($13) with a half neck to Thermal Current ($7.50) in third.

The Hawkes Racing team decided on the Zeditave over the Southern Cross Stakes in Sydney for Not Listenin'tome's return.

John Hawkes said the TJ Smith was a possible target and the sprinter would probably return to Sydney.

Wayne Hawkes said "the good thing of the day" won as expected.

"I think we all know he's a pretty high-class horse," Hawkes said.
