Bright future predicted for Son Senoras

A bright future has been predicted for three-year-old Son Senoras who backed up an impressive recent barrier trial with an easy first-up maiden win at Mornington.

The Clinton McDonald-trained filly drifted from $1.40 to $2.20 favourite in Wednesday's Musk Creek Farm Plate (1000m), but after jumping to the front the daughter of Shaft went away in the straight and won eased down by 2-1/2 lengths with Glen Boss aboard.

Boss's wife Sloane is among a group of women who own a share in the filly and after partnering Son Senoras to an effortless win, the leading hoop was full of praise for the filly.

"She's been a filly we've always had massive opinion of from the get go," Boss said.

Son Senoras was well-beaten on debut at Caulfield on Boxing Day in 2012 which Boss put down to shin soreness.

A virus then forced her off the scene for a little longer but the filly showed she was on target for a winning return with a 12-length barrier trial win at Cranbourne on January 30.

"She's got a really bright future. She felt like she was basically in second gear there," Boss said after the victory.

Illness kept McDonald away from the races but his father Ross said a stakes race at Flemington early next month could be the filly's next assignment.
