Magician among World Cup possibles

Magician and Ruler Of The World head Aidan O'Brien's entries for the Dubai World Cup.

Magician, winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf and Epsom Derby winner Ruler Of The World are among 13 O'Brien-trained horses among the 341 nominations for the world's richest race next month.

Among them are 2012 Racing Post Trophy winner Kingsbarns, dual Group Three winner Ernest Hemingway and St Leger winner Leading Light.

John Gosden has entered The Fugue while 2011 Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden is also in the frame for the $US10 million ($A11.10 million) contest.

Entries include representatives from 15 countries, with Breeder's Cup Classic star Mucho Macho Man, Secretariat Stakes winner Admiral Kitten, Big Blue Kitten and Game On Dude the leading American contenders.

Hong Kong's Akeed Mofeed, South African star Heavy Metal and Godolphin's Cape Verdi winner Certify are others to feature.

Certify is also nominated for the Dubai Duty Free and Godolphin Mile and is one of a number of horses with multiple options.

The Joey Ramsden-trained South African runner Variety Club has been entered for the Dubai World Cup, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Sheema Classic and the Godolphin Mile.

Helene Superstar, a horse that may be more familiar to Dubai race fans by his former name, Lines Of Battle, the 2013 UAE Derby winner, has been nominated by new trainer Tony Cruz for the Dubai Duty Free, the Dubai World Cup and the Dubai Sheema Classic.

Japan's best racemare Gentildonna has been entered for a second shot at the Dubai Sheema Classic, after finishing runner-up to St Nicholas Abbey last year.

The winners of both the Dubai World Cup day sprints are in line to defend their 2013 titles, with the Satish Seemar-trained Golden Shaheen winner, Reynaldothewizard and Mike de Kock's Shea Shea, the Al Quoz Sprint winner, in both sprint races.

Hong Kong's new star Amber Sky is a possible for the Al Quoz Sprint.
