Hungarian Overdose retired to stud

Hungarian cult horse Overdose has been retired to stud in his home country.

Known as the Budapest Bullet after a streak of victories, Overdose travelled to Britain in 2012 but failed to produce that form, finishing seventh in the Temple Stakes and fourth in the King's Stand Stakes.

He will stand at the Babolna National Stud Farm in Hungary, the Racing Post reported.

Bred in Britain, he is the highest-rated runner by Starborough, a winner of the St James's Palace Stakes who died at stud aged just 12.

Zoltan Mikoczy bought Overdose from Tattersalls in 2006.

Overdose was crowned champion European sprinter and champion Italian three-year-old in 2008.

He will remain in the ownership of Mikoczy and will cover around 40 mares this year.
