Carn wins again at huge odds

Saturday 25 January 2014, 4:44pm

BRISBANE Jan 25 AAP - The bookies friend Carn struck again at Eagle Farm on Saturday when he won his third city race at huge odds.

Ridden by Alisha Taylor, Carn ($81) knocked out just about everyone in the first leg of the quadrella when he beat favourite Walhaan ($3.70) by a half neck in the Bollinger Hcp (2200m).

Carn runs well for female jockeys as Jackie Brown rode him when he won an Eagle Farm Hcp (1810m) at $61 in October 2011 and Taylor was aboard when he won a Doomben Hcp (2100m) at $61 in July 2012.

Owner-trainer Doug Johnson said he had his smallest bet ever on Carn who he thought was a run short.

"He was going from 1600m to 2200m but I suppose he has been carrying me in trackwork," said Johnson.
