Smart mare Jacquetta confirmed her rating as Brisbane's unluckiest horse when she drew an outside barrier for the $100,000 Listed Nudgee Quality (1200m) on Saturday.

Trainer Bryan Guy was hoping luck would finally go her way after Jacquetta drew barrier 13 in a field of 17 at Eagle Farm.

Jacquetta has a record which would be the envy of most having won five races and been placed in another seven of her 17 starts.

However, it would not be stretching the truth to say she should have won at least another five races.

Jacquetta is the namesake of a famous historical figure from England's 15th century War of The Roses who was once accused of witchcraft.

Guy admits Jacquetta could probably use some outside help against a field of smart mares in the Nudgee.

He pointed out Jacquetta's race history highlighted just about anything which could go wrong in a race.

"Things don't seem to be going her way. Her last nine starts have produced a win, six minor placings a fourth and a fifth," he said.

"I am not being biased saying she should have won at least five of those other races.

"She got beaten a nostril first up in the Tatts Classic and then was a fifth when very unlucky in the Just Now (Stakes) both at black type.

"Jacquetta really deserves to win one of these (Listed races)."

Jacquetta was an unlucky third at the Gold Coast on January 4 and Guy is following his usual policy of spacing the mare's runs at three weeks.

The barrier draw was not kind to most of Guy's other runners on Saturday with Nuptse, who is also in the Nudgee Quality, drawing 11, and Three Year Old Hcp runner One Grey getting alley 13.

However, his galloper Regular drew barrier four in the Gallopers Plate 6 (1400m).

Guy believes Regular will be hard to beat after finishing midfield in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on January 11.

"He was just over two lengths away from them and was ridden back in the field. He will be rolling forward from the good alley on Saturday," Guy said.
