Bowman ride hearing set for next chapter

Friday 20 December 2013, 5:42pm

Hugh Bowman's ride on a beaten favourite will be further scrutinised when a stewards' inquiry resumes on Monday.

Bowman rode the David Vandyke-trained Fulminate into second place during last Friday night's Canterbury meeting.

Fulminate ran on strongly from the back of the field to be beaten 1-3/4 lengths by the all-the-way winner Darci Drama.

Stewards took evidence from Bowman and Vandyke during the meeting before adjourning the hearing to collate more information.

Vandyke told the hearing he had instructed Bowman to have Fulminate in a forward position.

But Bowman said Fulminate did not jump cleanly enough and he did not want to risk being trapped deep if he pushed on as the field settled.
