Zoustar set to stand in NSW and Victoria

Wednesday 4 December 2013, 5:43pm

Woodside Park Stud has bought into Group One winner Zoustar and the prized colt will stand alternate breeding seasons in NSW and Victoria.

A Woodside Park Stud statement confirmed a deal with Widden.

It will see Zoustar stand his first season at Widden in the NSW Hunter Valley before relocating to Woodside for his second term.

Zoustar will also alternate between the studs for his third and fourth seasons.

"This historic arrangement with Widden Stud gives our breeders access to the hottest young stallion prospect in Australia," Woodside Park Stud's general manager Murray Tillett said.

Zoustar confirmed he is a new star of Australian racing during the spring carnival with Group One wins in the Golden Rose in Sydney and the Coolmore Stud Stakes in Melbourne.

The three-year-old will remain in training with Chris Waller to chase Sydney autumn riches while a Royal Ascot is a possibility.

Zoustar was sold to leading NSW nursery Widden Stud in the days leading up to his Coolmore Stud Stakes victory.

The colt is a son of Northern Meteor who died of colic in July after a blazing start to his stud career at Widden.

Zoustar has won six of his eight starts and more than $1.4 million in stakes.
