Mr Moet figures in switch to Sydney stable

Tuesday 3 December 2013, 6:23pm

Mr Moet, one of the favourites to win the last Australian Group One race for the year, will join the all-conquering Chris Waller stable in early 2014.

Perth trainer Adam Durrant confirmed Mr Moet will head to Sydney after the Cox Stakes later this month.

But first he is hoping Mr Moet can give him a farewell Group One win in the weight-for-age Kingston Town Classic at Ascot on Saturday.

The six-year-old came from last when close-up in a midfield finishing position to Luckygray in the Railway Stakes in his return Perth run after a Melbourne spring campaign.

He shares the second line of Kingston Town betting at $5 with the three-year-old Ihtsahymn behind Luckygray ($2.40).

The Kingston Town Stakes will be the final Group One race run in Australia for 2013.

Durrant said it wasn't practical for him to train Mr Moet for the Sydney autumn carnival.

"Chris Waller at this stage is going to take him on because it's too hard for me with my team to get away," Durrant told Melbourne radio station RSN.

"Obviously I want to get him used to the different direction ... it's important to give him a bit of experience going the other way and I wouldn't be able to do that before he races.

"The best thing to do for the connections and the horse is to give him a proper prep and why wouldn't you give him to the best?"

Mr Moet defeated Luckygray in last year's Railway Stakes before the tables were turned in the Kingston Town.
