Darren Weir fined $2000 by stewards

Saturday 9 November 2013, 6:00pm

Platelet was scratched from a Group One assignment and Darren Weir fined $2000 at Flemington on Saturday after what the trainer said was a communication bungle.

Weir had informed stewards that Platelet was stabled at his Ballarat training centre on the eve of the $1 million VRC Sprint Classic.

Security was to be sent to guard the horse in line with the policy on Group One runners in Victoria.

However, Platelet was, in fact, at Weir's Warrnambool stables which meant the mare would go unguarded by race authorities.

Stewards reacted by scratching Platelet and fining Weir.

Stewards also sidelined jockey Jake Noonan for 10 meetings for careless riding aboard Supremacy in the Antler Luggage Hcp.

He will be out until November 21.
