Chad Schofield to miss Derby Day

Melbourne's champion apprentice Chad Schofield will miss the Victoria Derby meeting through suspension.

Schofield, who rides Shamus Award in Saturday's Cox Plate, pleaded guilty to careless riding in Friday night's Subzero Challenge Heat at Moonee Valley aboard Auld Burns and was handed an eight meeting ban.

Schofield's suspension starts after Sunday and he is free to return on November 4, the day before the Melbourne Cup.
