Tuesday 15 October 2013, 9:51pm

Caulfield Guineas winner Long John will be given his chance in the Cox Plate with Kerrin McEvoy to ride the three-year-old at 54.5kg.

Owner Sheikh Mohammed has given the Darley Australia team the go-ahead to run Long John in the weight-for-age championship at Moonee Valley on Saturday week.

Trainer Peter Snowden said Long John had come through his Group One win on Saturday in fine order.

He has firmed to between $11 and $13 for the Cox Plate (2040m) with Atlantic Jewel heading the market.

Darley filly Guelph is also still in Cox Plate markets but she has another assignment first in Wednesday's Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.

The last three-year-old to win the Cox Plate was So You Think four years ago.
