Boss on Silent Achiever in Caulfield Cup

Wednesday 9 October 2013, 3:56pm

Glen Boss has pinned his hopes on New Zealand mare Silent Achiever to try to win his first Caulfield Cup on Saturday week.

The three-time Melbourne Cup and Cox Plate-winning jockey needs a victory in the Caulfield Cup to complete racing's coveted grand slam having also won the Golden Slipper on two occasions.

Boss has locked in the Roger James-trained Silent Achiever as his ride in this year's $2.5 million Caulfield Cup (2400m).

Silent Achiever won the New Zealand Derby last year and has been progressing nicely this spring in her three Melbourne starts.

She was luckless first-up in the Memsie Stakes before finishing sixth in both the Underwood and Turnbull Stakes at her past two starts.

Silent Achiever, runner-up in The BMW over 2400m during the Sydney autumn, has been aimed at the Cups this campaign.

She is on the fourth line of TAB fixed odds Caulfield Cup betting at $10 behind the Chris Waller-trained pair of Hawkspur ($4.50) and Royal Descent ($7), and international Dandino ($9).
