Peters sets star for All-Star Mile

Champion Perth mare Arcadia Queen will return to Victoria and be aimed at the All-Star Mile.

Leviathan owner Bob Peters announced that Arcadia Queen would be the only one of his horses nominated for the $5 million All-Star Mile to be run at The Valley on March 13 in a bid to get her voted in.

Peters said he also intends to set last year's All-Star Mile winner Regal Power for the race but hopes to gain a wildcard entry into the race.

Peters said he didn't want to split the West Australian voters and hoped that Arcadia's Queen popularity would push her high up the voting order in order to secure a start.

"Of course you never know how the voting will go, but we believe Arcadia Queen is one of the best mares in the country so we're hopeful that she will get a run in the All-Star Mile," said Peters.

The Grant and Alana Williams trained mare campaigned in Melbourne last spring and she won the Mackinnon Stakes and the Caulfield Stakes as well as finishing fifth in the Cox Plate.

Last year Peters and the Williams quinealled the race with Regal Power defeating Superstorm.

Peters said they haven't decided where she will start her preparation.

"She's back in work and we'll look to trial her at home over the next few weeks, then come up with a plan to bring her over to Melbourne and build a campaign towards the All-Star Mile," Peters said.

"She showed what she's capable of during the Spring Carnival, and if she comes back in that sort of form then she'll be very competitive in any race she lines up in.

"I was obviously pretty pleased with what we managed to achieve in the All-Star Mile last year, and I believe she is probably our best hope for this year's race."

Another West Australian horse Dom To Shoot has also been nominated for the All-Star Mile.

The three-year-old gelding trained by Sean and Jake Casey finished third in the Kingston Town Stakes at his last start.
