Treble for Munce at Eagle Farm

Saturday 10 August 2013, 5:03pm

Chris Munce has ended a frustrating run of outs in style with a winning treble at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Munce was successful aboard Flying Home ($1.90 fav), Teronado ($8) and Divine City ($9), ending a drought on city tracks which stretched back to early July.

Divine City was having only her second start from a spell when she won the St Margaret's Anglican Girls School Handicap (1200m) by three-quarters of a length from Ticket To Dream ($13) with Pure Purrfection ($17) a nose away third.

"She had a bad prep last time in but she's going a lot better now and I thought she had a great chance today," trainer Garnett Taylor said.

"She's not an easy horse to ride but Chris did a great job to get her home and she'll be even better when she gets out over 1400 metres or a mile."

Munce had Divine City travelling sweetly in fourth place to the home turn and was confident the mare would win despite being headed by Pure Purrfection halfway up the straight.

"She took a few strides to wind up and even though the other mare poked her head in front, she really knuckled down well and was too strong for them at the finish," Munce said.

"My game plan was to make sure she didn't get cluttered up on the fence and to make sure she had plenty of galloping room.

"She's a very tough mare and the firm track suited her."

Munce went within a short half-head of riding half the program when his mount Sir Knox finished second to Hollywood Bound in the RBS Morgans Handicap (1500m).
